Downloader metastock command line


















Displays a short description of all the command line options. If present, this argument will automatically start a downloading session. Instructs the downloader to automatically close after the downloading session has completed.

It can be used together with argument -a to automatically start and end a YLoader session. Available only in the console version. Instructs the downloader to display all settings for the session. Used to see the actual values for all the settings, even those that have not been set explicitly on the command line.

Instructs the downloader not to run a downloading session. Can be used together with -o to check the values of various settings before actually starting a session.

Instructs the downloader to load arguments from a configuration file in addition to those passed directly on the command line. Download session control. Sets the name and path of the file containing the symbols. The value string must be between quotes if it contains spaces. Sets the path under which the generated files will be saved. Instructs the downloader which datasource to use to download the data. The datasource name can be incomplete as long as it uniquely identifies it, for example "y", "ya" "go" are all valid datasource names.

Also, the name is case insensitive, so both "y" and "Y" will identify Yahoo as datasource. Instructs the downloader whether to adjust data for split and dividends or not. Note that some data sources may not support either adjusted or unadjusted data. Instructs the downloader whether to check data for errors or not.

Sets the start date of the downloading range. An empty quoted string can be set to specify the earliest available start date. See also -l and -u. Sets the end date of the downloading range. An empty quoted string can be set to most recent available end date. Instructs the downloader to download only the most recent missing bars if enabled, or the data for the entire specified range if disabled.

Enabling the update mode is the most efficient way to download data on an ongoing basis, as this will always download the minimum amount of data.

Sets the number of simultaneous downloading connections. If bandwidth and processing power were unlimited, the higher the number the faster the download. In practice, should be used with caution, as a higher number may not necessarily result in a faster download. Instructs the downloader to issue an warning and continue downloading the data, if set to warning, or issue an error and halt downloading the data for that symbol, if set to error.

Instructs the downloader how to handle the case of volume 0. If set to valid, it will consider volume 0 as a valid value, if set to invalid, it will consider volume 0 as invalid, and it will handle further according to argument -i handling of invalid data. Instructs the downloader to reload old data in update mode, if necessary, if set to enable, and disables reloading of old data in update mode, even if old data is inconsistent, if disabled. See also argument -u.

Settings based line formatting. Instructs the downloader whether to add the symbol to the generated file if enabled see argument -m for the column where the symbol will be placed , or to not add the symbol to the generated file if disabled. If adding the symbol to the generated file is enabled see argument -y , this will set the column in which the symbol will be added 0 for the first column, 1 for the second, etc, up to 6 for the last column.

Sets the date separator to the specified character or string. To set the "no date separator" mode, use command line argument -z. The separator string should be surrounded by quotes in case it starts with "-", which can cause an ambiguous command line. If both -r and -z are present on the command line, -z takes precendence, so there won't be a date separator.

Sets the "no date separator" mode. See command line argument -r for how to set any date separator. If both -r and -z are present on the command line, -z takes precedence, so there won't be a date separator. Sets the field separator to the specified character or string. Leave this unchecked if you wish to preserve the data in the destination file. Select the Convert Folder button. Place a check next to the data files to be copied. Then right-click on the checked data files and from the menu select, Copy all checked to From the Copies Securitie s dialog select the folder in which to copy to. The destination folder must already be added to the DownLoad tab. If the desired destination folder is not in the list: Select Cancel Select Add Select the desired folder, then choose the Select Folder button.

From the Power Console, select the Charts button. Open all of the charts to be included in the layout. Typing in instruments using the Instrument s field at the top Multiple instruments can be separated by commas. Select instruments using custom data lists or public online lists. Select local data instruments using Local Data Lists. Customize charts so they are displayed in the desired manner. From the Layout dialog select Add or Add All.

Select New the, Exploration Editor dialog will display. From the Power Console, select the System Test button. Select the General tab and give the new system test a name.

Set the desired Order and Portfolio Bias options. Select the Buy Order tab. Enter the desired formula to enter a long position. Set the appropriate Order Type options. Set the desired Stops if needed. Define optimization variables for OPT variables in formulas if needed. MetaStock 12 Open MetaStock. From the Tools menu select Enhanced System Tester. From the Power Console select the Forecaster button. Set the desired amount of data to load from the right pane.

Select the Start Forecaster or press Enter. Select the Event Recognizer tab. Select the Draw New Pattern. Enter a Name for the new pattern. Position the cursor into the Pattern Shape, Location, and Orientation box. Click and hold the mouse and draw the desired pattern Ex. Select the desired options and select Save. The newly created folder will display in the Download tab. Place a check next to the newly created folder, right click on the folder, select Create New Security. There are three ways in which to add an instrument to the folder, those are covered below. Select the Interval. Select the First Date This will be the first date in the data file. If you want five years of data set the first date back five years. Once an instrument is entered select OK. This will add the instrument s to the folder.

To download data to the new folder, place a check next to the folder and select the Download button. Manually type the instrument into the Symb ol field, if a name is not entered, it will default to the instrument. O Symbol search by selecting Look-up. Multiple Selections. From the right pane in the Attachment section, select the Apply Template option.

Using the drop down select the desired template. Select Open Chart This will open a chart of the instrument s with the desired template applied. From the Select instrument s from lists section, highlight the exchange to display the list of instruments to the right. From the Chart Options dialog, from the Attachment section, select the desired template to apply using the drop down menu next to the Apply Template bullet.

Select the drop down arrow on the Open button and select Open with Template Or select the drop down arrow on the Options button and select Open with Template. The Open with Template dialog will be displayed. Select the desired template and select Open. Select the instrument s to be opened with the selected template. This will open the chart of the instrument s with the desired templates applied. Right click onto the back ground of the open chart. Select Apply Template. From the Apply Template dialog, select the desired template and select Apply.

This will open a second instance of the chart with the desired template applied. We recommend leaving Keep line studies unchecked, since line studies are specific to the instruments for which they are drawn. From the Power Console select Charts. Select the desired instrument , or multiple instruments , from a custom online list or a public online list from the Instruments pane bottom, left. Check the box next to the list name to select an entire list, or double-click to open a list and check the boxes next the desired instruments.

From the Attachment section select to Apply Template , using the drop down menu select the desired template. Select Open Chart. This will apply the select template to the instruments. Select Next. Repeat the same process to create multiple symbols. If the custom expert will only contain symbols, click Ok to create the Expert Advisor, and close the editor. Click the Alert tab. Select New from the right hand menu, this will open the Expert Alert Editor. Select the Alert tab. Type in the text the alert is to display when it is triggered. Click Ok to close the Expert Alert Editor. Repeat the same process to create multiple alerts. If the custom expert will only contain alerts, click Ok to create the Expert Advisor, and close the editor.

Click the Commentary tab. Within the commentary window insert the desired text for the custom expert advisor. Add any desired formatting such as font size, font color, bold , and italics.

If the custom expert will only contain a commentary window, click Ok to create the Expert Advisor, and close the editor. Select the Explore button from the Power Console. Double click onto "Explorations 0 of " to bring up the Exploration Editor. Click New on the right hand side, this will open the Exploration Editor.
