My god! Yes, it is, but only ALL Windows 7 machines. If you have the two operating systems to network, you are in trouble. Hope this helps. Wednesday, December 26, AM. This issue was killing since yesterday. Anyways, when I got to the registry key restrictanonymous, it was already set to 0. So i deleted it and place another 0 then proceeded to reboot the machine. Issue resolved :.
To resolve this issue, do the following on the Windows 7 computer:. This was personally set to 0 for me but I also set the key everyoneincludesanonymous to 1. OK I am still having this issue, I believe iamchoy solution works but this one does not stick on my machine.
Directories can be accessed by XP users on the network for a day or two and then issue comes back. I discovered that just by restarting the "Server" service under services fixes the issue temporarily.
So I decided to make a batch file that can restart the server service and stick to Scheduled Tasks. I am using PSexec tool to launch command line at a "Local System" level since it is the only level of CMD that net stop and net start will work for the service "LanmanServer".
Does anyone know how to add another batch file to be run after the "psexec -his cmd" is invoked? Basically I need a batch file that will open a command prompt, then open another command prompt with local system level, then run the batch to restart the Lanman service.

Joined Nov 19, Messages I have 3 computers in my home network: the main computer, a laptop, and an old computer used for streaming vids and pix to the TV.
The laptop and main computer are fine. The problem arises when I try to access files from either the laptop or main computer from the TV computer. I've done a lot of research on this and I know that there are a lot of problems sharing files between Win7 and XP. I disabled password file sharing on the main computer, and made sure that file and printer sharing is turned on for all 3 computers.
I've also read something about that the user name and password has to be the same on all the computers on the network, but that doesn't really make sense. The laptop and main computer don't have the same user name and they work fine. Besides, before I disabled password file sharing, I entered the proper name and password for the main computer and it still wouldn't let me connect. But when I click on any of those folders, it tells me something like "[Folder] is not accessible.

No firewalls or security on either computer. The main computer had a boot drive failure, so the Win7 install was on a brand new drive.
